Boozy cherry-chocolate shots recipe

Feeding cherries to your lover makes for a highly romantic and suggestive gesture. Combine this with the dark chocolate, whipped cream and Kirsch liquor, and it makes for the ideal Valentine’s dessert for two. Choose a dark chocolate with a high cocoa content – ideally 70% or more.

Ingredients:

75g dark chocolate
1 egg
2 tsp kirsch
100ml double cream
2 cherries (stalks on)

Directions:

  1. Break the chocolate into small pieces and place in a glass bowl over a pan of simmering water until melted. Set aside and leave to cool slightly

  2. Separate the egg and beat into 1 tsp of kirsch. Add the molten chocolate and 2 tbsp of the cream and mix well.

  3. Whisk the egg whites until they form firm peaks and fold them gently into the chocolate mixture.

  4. Spoon into two large shot glasses and place in the fridge to chill for 1 hour.

  5. Whip the remaining cream with the remaining kirsch and serve a dollop on the mousse, topped with a cherry.
