Fig, Serrano ham and gorgonzola salad recipe
Figs have a long tradition as an erotic food and were considered by the Ancient Greeks to be an aphrodisiac. Their sweet, delicate flesh pairs beautifully with the pungent gorgonzola and the saltiness of the ham. Serves two.
Ingredients:
4 ripe figs, quartered
100g Gorgonzola
6 slices Serrano ham, roughly sliced
2 handfuls rocket
3 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
1 tbsp balsamic vinegar
1 tsp honey
salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
Directions:
Half the rocket between the two plates and arrange the figs, cheese and ham on top.
Whisk the oil, vinegar, honey and seasoning thoroughly then drizzle on top and serve immediately.
